Murud janjira fort

Murud-Janjira is the local name of a famous fort and tourist spot situated on an island just off the coastal town of Murud, in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India

Kashid beach

Phansad sanctuary

Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is a wildlife sanctuary in the Murud and Roha talukas of Raigad district, Maharashtra state, India. It was created in 1986 to preserve some of the coastal woodland ecosystem of the Western Ghats and consists of 6,979 ha of forest, grasslands and wetlands

Nandgoan beach

Nandgaon is a small coastal town in Murud taluka of Raigad district which is famous for its Siddhivinayak Ganesh Temple. The Ganpati of Nandgaon is mentioned as ‘Ballal Murud Vinayak Aham’ in Puranas.

Birla mandir

Among the most significant features of the Birla Temple is its Shikara, which stands approximately 160 meters tall. This magnificent temple is oriented eastward. The beauty of the temple fascinates its visitors even more during the sunrise. North of the temple is the famous Geeta Bhawan, dedicated to Lord Krishna.

Khokari tomb

The tomb of Surul Khan is said to have been built during his lifetime. Yakut Khan's tomb has an Arabic inscription stating that he died on Thursday 30th Jama-Dilaval AH 1118 (AD 1707). Khairiyat Khan's tomb also has an inscription. The figures of the date of his death are AH 1018, but the Arabic words give the date H. 1108 (AD 1696). The latter date is believed to be the correct one.

Nawab palace

The Nawab of Janjira moved into the Ahmedganj Palace in 1885. The grand palace, designed with a fusion of Mughal and Gothic architectural styles is built on the edge of a cliff and offers a magnificent view of Murud and the Arabian Sea.Spread over a vast area of 45 acres, its grounds hold a marvelous mosque and the tombs of the previous rulers.
